If you're from the South, you've probably had homemade biscuits at least once. If not, most places at least have some form of biscuits at your local fried chicken restaurant. It is one of the easiest things to make and is one of the first things they teach in culinary school. However, I find that the biscuits sold in fried chicken restaurants to be dry and crumbly.
I will take these biscuits over any others any day.
This recipe can make anywhere between 25 to 30 biscuits depending on the size you make them and only takes around 25 minutes.
Ingredients
2 lbs. All Purpose Flour
2 1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Baking Powder
1 3/4 cup Cold Butter
3 cup Milk
The Dough
Sift dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder) together.
Cut in the cold butter. The dough should look mealy.
Add milk and mix until dough holds together.
Knead on a lightly floured surface.
Portion into either 1/8 cup or 1/4 cup portions.
Bake
Bake at 425 degrees until it's golden brown.
Let them cool.
Have Fun with It!
