Most of y'all have probably heard of gyros, but for those that haven't, gyros are Greek sandwiches that are traditionally served on pita bread and made with lamb, chicken, or pork as well as tzatziki sauce. These versatile sandwiches can be topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, or peppers. I made this batch with chicken, sauteed onions, peppers, and, of course, tzatziki sauce.
These are a ton of fun to make and takes less than an hour to make.
Your List of Ingredients
Pita Bread
2-3 Chicken Breast
1 Onion
1 Bell Pepper
1/2 batch Tzatziki Sauce
1 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. Basil
Salt and Pepper To Taste
Chicken Preparation
Cut the chicken into strips and season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165.
Sauté
Cut the onions and peppers into thin slices and sauté until tender.
Gyros Assemble!
Spoon a little (or a lot if you want) tzatziki sauce onto the pita bread and fill with onion peppers and chicken.
Have Fun with It!
