Those plates from last night's dinner. The knife used to dice the raw chicken. The empty wine glasses. What do all of these have in common? They all get washed with the same sponge which soaks up all of that bacteria. That is why it is so important to disinfect your sponge regularly and replace it when necessary.

I recommend disinfecting your sponge at least once a week with distilled white vinegar. The vinegar will kill any bacteria that gets collected and/or grows in the sponge without damaging the sponge. It is just as important for you to replace the sponge every three to four weeks. However, if it develops an odor or a slimy texture before then, it should be disposed of and replaced immediately.

What You'll Need:
Distilled White Vinegar
Your Sponge
A cup or container.
How to Disinfect:
Place your sponge in the cup or container.
Cover in vinegar.
Soak in the vinegar for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse your sponge thoroughly.
Let it air dry.
