Trail Mix

I have worked in restaurants since 2019 and often times there isn't much time for the employees to eat. Recently, I started making my own trail mix instead of always buying chips.

I find that trail mix that is high in protein helps keep me going, especially in the summer when the temperatures can reach almost 100 degrees.

Most trail mixes contain nuts, seeds, and some kind of dried fruit. Some have "fun stuff" like M&Ms or pretzels. Below is a list of the ingredients and proportions I use for mine.

Ingredients

  • 1cup Almonds, Toasted

  • 1 cup Sunflower Seeds

  • 1/2 cup Pretzels

  • 1/2 cup Cheerios

  • 1/2 cup Coconut flakes, toasted

Step 1

I started by toasting the almonds and coconut flakes at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

While those are toasting, I break the pretzel twists into slightly smaller pieces.

Step 2

Mix all ingredients together. Portion them out into snack sized ziplock bag and you are ready to go!

Have Fun with It!

This trail mix can be personalized to your own taste. Switch out the ingredients for your favorite kind of nut, seed, or treat. Follow and share The Diner Carr on Facebook, Pinterest, and TikTok for more recipes!
